Recruitment Information

As always, scholarships to cover the cost of the event are available.  Please contact Mrs. Charles (charles@rmu.edu) for more information.

Option 1: Overnight (January 25-26)
This option is for 25 Junior or Senior high school students who are interested in spending the night on a college campus.  Arrive Friday evening and join the RMU Pep Band to support our Division 1 Women’s Hockey team, spend the night in a college dorm, and end the weekend Saturday afternoon by supporting our Division 1 Women’s Basketball team.  
The cost for the weekend is $25.00.
Each student may receive 2 complimentary tickets to the Women’s Hockey game on Friday, and admission to Women’s Basketball games is always free!

The tentative schedule is below, a more detailed schedule will be distributed later.
Friday January 25th
        3:00-3:30 pm            Arrive at Island Sports Center for Registration
       7:00 pm                     Women’s Ice Hockey Game Start
        9:30 pm (est.)            Return to Campus via Shuttle
Saturday January 26th
        10:00 am                    Report to North Athletic Complex for Practice
        1:00 pm                      Women’s Basketball Game Start
        2:30 pm (est.)            Depart after Women’s Basketball

Option 2: All Day (January 26)
This option is available for high school students of any age who want to experience playing in a college Pep Band for the day.  Arrive Saturday morning to join the RMU Pep Band in supporting our Division 1 Women’s Basketball team, and stick around to support our Division 1 Men’s Basketball Team.  
The cost for the day is $15.00.
Admission to Women’s Basketball games is always free!  Unfortunately, due to space restrictions, we cannot offer complimentary tickets to the Men’s Basketball Game.

        9:30-10:00 pm        Arrive at Student Rec Center for Registration

During our Fall Recruitment Event, high school students are invited to join our Marching Show Band, Dance Team, Color Guard, and Majorettes for an RMU Football Game at Joe Walton Stadium. Students will have the opportunity to learn about our performance ensembles by playing in the stands with RMU Band musicians or by performing alongside members of the RMU Auxiliary. 

During our Spring Recruitment Event, high school students are invited to join our Pep Band by playing at basketball and hockey games. In addition, dancers are invited to perform alongside the dance team at basketball games. Our Colonial Pep Band is well-known by all for their enthusiasm and excitement they bring to RMU Athletic events.

Our Recruitment Events give students the opportunity to get a feel for what college band is all about and will hopefully encourage them to continue making music in college. There is a small participation fee that will be determined closer to each recruitment weekend.
